TOMMY Steele shot to fame as one of rock and roll's original teenage pop idol.

The popular entertainer also has a great claim to fame about Elvis Presley.

Tommy Steele was originally born Thomas Hicks on December 17, 1936, in Bermondsey, London.

The multi-talented star is a singer, actor and a writer.

He earned a top-20 hit with his debut release, Rock With The Caveman in 1956, the same year Elvis Presley made his UK debut.

The connection between the two doesn't end there, however, as the teen idol sensationally claimed he gave Elvis his only tour of London in 1958 after it was previously assumed the heartbreaker's only visit to these shores was in Scotland.

Tommy left behind his pop-star identity in the 1960s and has since carved out a successful career on stage, making more appearances at the London Palladium than any other performer.

He was awarded an OBE in the 1979 Queen's New Year Honours List for his services to drama and entertainment.

Thanks to his hard work in the entertainment business, Tommy is worth a bob or two.

As of January 2023, he has a reported net worth of around £8M.

He has earned his money from his shows and work as a musician.

The couple are still together after marrying in 1960.

Over two thousand fans flocked so support, what was deemed at the time, the showbusiness wedding of the year.

Does Tommy Steele have any children?

She was born in 1969 and has since become an interior designer.

Not much else is known about Emma, as she has kept her life out of the spotlight.
