Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka statistically on par with two PSG stars this season
Bukayo Saka is one of just four players in Europe’s top five leagues to score seven goals and provide as many assists.
The 21-year-old curled home a wonder strike from outside the box in Arsenal’s thrilling 3-2 win over Manchester United at the Emirates on Sunday.
Saka jinxed past Christian Eriksen before arrowing in an effort from 25 yards out into the bottom left corner to leave Adebayo Akinfenwa speechless.
His stunner has seen him equal Gunners legends Thierry Henry and Freddie Ljungberg by scoring in three consecutive games against the Red Devils.
But more importantly, Arsenal‘s victory has seen them extend their lead over Manchester City at the top of the table to five points.
In stats obtained by Squawka, Saka is on par statistically with Paris Saint-Germian stars Lionel Messi and Neymar as well as Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this season.
Only those four players have scored and assisted seven times in their respected league.
Kvaratskhelia boasts identical stats as Saka [seven and seven], while Messi has eight goals and ten assists, with Neymar leading the way with 11 goals and ten assists.
Saka already has the same amount of assists in the Premier League as he reached last campaign, despite playing 19 games fewer.
While he is just four strikes shy of reaching his goals tally for the 2021/22 season.
Speaking after the match to Arsenal’s website, Saka declared he believes his curler against United was the best of his career so far.
He said: “It’s my best goal for sure. I don’t think any other goal can argue with this one, and for what it meant as well.”
He continued: “I’m playing with a lot confidence, playing with a smile, playing with freedom and everyone around me is playing so well.
“It’s a pleasure to play I this team. I enjoy every game, definitely.”
Commenting on the importance of the win, he stated: “I can’t put it into words.
“We know how big this game is, the history between the two clubs, and also looking at the table, how big it would be if we won this.
“We managed to do it, so you could see from the celebrations how much it meant to everyone.”
