Bayern Munich wasted little time in acquiring one of their summer targets as Sadio Mané has officially left Liverpool and signed for the Bundesliga giants.

Mané had one year remaining on his Liverpool contract but decided it was time for something else and Bayern were quick to swoop in.

According to Sky Sports, Mané inked a three-year deal with Bayern paying Liverpool a £35 million transfer fee. The Reds received a £27.5 million fixed fee with £7.5 million in add-ons.

Mané was part of a formidable Liverpool front three alongside Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. Manager Jurgen Klopp had nothing but praise for the Senegalese forward.

“It’s a big moment. There is no point in anyone trying to pretend otherwise. One of Liverpool’s greatest ever players is leaving and we must acknowledge how significant this is. “He leaves with our gratitude and our love. He leaves with his status among the greats guaranteed. And, yes, he leaves in a moment where he is one of the best players in world football. “But we must not dwell on what we now lose, instead celebrate what we were privileged to have. The goals he scored, the trophies he won; a legend, for sure, but also a modern-day Liverpool icon.

For his part, Mané felt he was ready for a change and was eager to jump at the opportunity once Bayern came calling.

“I’m really happy to finally be at FC Bayern in Munich,” Mané said. “We spoke a lot and I felt big interest from this great club right from the beginning, so for me there were no doubts. It’s the right time for this challenge. I want to achieve a lot with this club, in Europe too. During my time in Salzburg I watched a lot of Bayern games – I really like this club!”

The now former Liverpool player was instrumental in the Reds’ recent success. He played a huge part in helping them win their first Premier League title since the league began back in 1992 as well as winning the Champions League vs Tottenham in the Wanda Metropolitano back in 2019.

The numbers speak for themselves. Still on 30, he’s still got more than enough left in the tank. If he performs with Bayern the way he did at Liverpool, given the fees being tossed around these days, they’d have gotten a bargain.
