Scottish actor Billy Connolly is appearing on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, October 15 to talk about his new biography.

The 78-year-old actor has starred in many films, winning a BAFTA for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his role in Mrs Brown, and in 2017 he was knighted, becoming Sir Billy Connolly.

In 2013, the actor was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

Since his diagnosis, Billy has retired from live comedy performances and, speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival earlier this year, he said his Parkinsons was "getting worse".

Billy continues to make TV shows since retiring from live performances but at the festival in August, where he was awarded a lifetime achievement award, he said he would have to "play it by ear" to see if he could continue in TV.

Parkinson's is a neurodegenerative disease where parts of the brain progressively become more damaged as time goes on.

The main symptoms of the disease are slow movement and involuntary shaking alongside other psychological symptoms like depression and sleeping problems.

On The Graham Norton Show Billy was appearing alongside Jodie Whittaker, the current Doctor Who, Olympic diving champion Tom Daley, acting star Dame Eileen Atkins, the music band Coldplay, and comedian Sir Lenny Henry.

Billy was invited to talk about his new book Windswept and Interesting, an autobiography which he admits he struggled to physically write due to the shaking in his hands.

The Graham Norton Show is on Fridays on BBC1 at 10.35pm
