Police have found a body in the search for the missing author and screenwriter Nick Fisher after he went missing near his home in west Dorset on Tuesday.

The 63-year-old, whose books included Sea Fishing - River Cottage Handbook, which was co-written by celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, had last been seen in his home village of Hooke on Tuesday.

Following searches of the area, a body was found by police in Dorchester on Thursday.

A Dorset Police spokesman said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

Mr Fearnley-Whittingstall had previously posted on Twitter about his close friend: "I never thought I would be using social media for this, but my very dearest friend Nick Fisher, who some of you will know from his journalism and telly work, has gone missing."

Death not being treated as suspicious

The police spokesman said: "Officers carrying out inquiries to locate a missing man from west Dorset have very sadly located a body.
