Conor Burns Sacked As Trade Minister And Whip Suspended After Misconduct Allegation
The MP for Bournemouth West has also had the Conservative whip suspended pending an investigation.
“Following a complaint of serious misconduct, the Prime Minister has asked Conor Burns MP to leave the government with immediate effect," a Number 10 spokesperson said in a statement.
“The Prime Minister took direct action on being informed of this allegation and is clear that all ministers should maintain the high standards of behaviour – as the public rightly expects.”
He had been appointed minister for trade policy by Liz Truss last month.
The suspension was first reported by The Sun on Friday. He told the newspaper he intended to "fully cooperate with the investigation and looks forward to clearing his name”.
