Derby County owner David Clowes labelled 'hero' after decision disclosed

Fans have taken to social media to show their gratitude towards Derby County owner David Clowes, after marking the anniversary of the club entering administration.

The club endured one of the darkest days in its history on September 17, 2021 after administration was confirmed due to ongoing financial problems under then owner Mel Morris. The Rams were also deducted 12 points by the English Football League.

After nine months in administration, lifelong Ram supporter and businessman Clowes took control of the club. Derby have started a new era under Clowes and are now in League One, battling their way back up to the Championship and Premier League football.

Here is what the Rams faithful had to say...

Catherine Payne: "We owe David Clowes the very existence of our club, we owe him a massive debt of gratitude. He is a master of decorum, a strong contrast to Mel's ego. A rebuild over time, we mustn't expect too much too soon. We will be back.."

Gems: "Could never have imagined a life without my beloved Derby County. Thanks to David Clowes, I don’t have to. The whole city will be eternally thankful."

Jake Barker: "Jesus it's been a year already? Incredible to see how much the club has turned itself around in such a short space of time. Thank you David Clowes."

Soph: "What a year it's been! Up the mighty Rams!"

Adam JN: "Remember reading the rumours on a train home, thinking surely not. Incredible to think what Clowes Developments have done for us and many other in the club."
