Three Lions to rack up the goals

England have already wrapped up top spot in their Euro 2024 qualifying group but will be looking to continue their unbeaten qualification campaign on Friday night against rock-bottom Malta at Wembley.

The visitors, yet to pick up a point in Group C, are likely to find the going tough against a Three Lions outfit that have scored 19 goals in their six games so far.

England put four past the Maltese in Ta’ Qali in the reverse fixture back in June but should be able to go one better when they welcome the minnows to north-west London.

The Three Lions have scored 12 of their 19 Euro 2024 qualifying goals on home soil and thrashed second-bottom North Macedonia 7-0 in Manchester earlier this year.

Malta have conceded 18 goals compared with the North Macedonians’ 14 and lost 4-0 in Italy in their last away game, so expect a heavy defeat for the bottom-placed side.

England vs Malta tip 1: England over 4.5 goals @ 11/10 with Sky Bet

England have been awarded five penalties in six Euro 2024 qualifiers so far and could increase that tally against Malta.

The Three Lions will almost certainly spend the majority of the game camped around the Maltese penalty area and the Group C stragglers have been reckless in their own box recently.

The visitors have given away four spot kicks in their seven Euro 2024 qualifiers, two of which came at home to England back in June.

England vs Malta tip 2: Penalty kick to be awarded @ 7/5 with Sky Bet

England captain Harry Kane has cemented his status as one of the world’s best strikers this season and will make the trip back to England full of confidence after his blistering start to life at Bayern Munich.

The former Tottenham man, who has scored 61 goals in 87 appearances for his country, has notched seven goals in six Euro 2024 qualifiers and converted from the spot in Malta in June.

Since then the 30-year-old has netted 21 times in 15 appearances for Bayern Munich and has scored a sensational 14 goals in his previous seven outings for club and country, including a brace against Italy during the last international break.

With Kane scoring at least twice in each of his past four appearances, back him to continue his rich vein of form against a Maltese side that have shipped 18 goals in qualifying. He could be joined on the scoresheet by Arsenal attacker Bukayo Saka.

He has scored four Euro 2024 qualifying goals in five appearances and all of those have come in his two home games for England.

In his last home outing for the Three Lions, he netted a hat-trick against North Macedonia – and the 22-year-old has once again been instrumental in the Gunners’ attack this season.

Saka has scored four and assisted a further five in his previous 10 starts for Arsenal, and he can put an extremely fragile Maltese defence to the sword on Friday night.

England vs Malta tip 3: Harry Kane to score at least two goals and Bukayo Saka to score anytime @ 9/2 with Sky Bet

Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.

Jude Bellingham, Levi Colwill and James Maddison are all missing with injuries, while two other notable absentees are John Stones and Reece James.

Teddy Teuma and Jodi Jones are back in the squad after missing October’s international break through injury, and both should start.
