Ex-Genoa Striker Sasa Bjelanovic: “Inter’s Romelu Lukaku Will Return To Being A Difference Maker, Brozovic Fundamental”
Former Torino, Ascoli, and Croatian national team striker Sasa Bjelanovic believes that Inter striker Romelu Lukaku’s return from injury will be decisive for Inter over the rest of the season.
Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Bjelanovic also hailed the importance of Nerazzurri midfielder Marcelo Brozovic for the Croatian national team.
Lukaku has barely featured over the season so far for Inter.
Frustrating lingering injury issues have meant that the Belgian has made a total of just three starts and then a couple substitute appearances so far.
The hope will certainly be that the 29-year-old is able to feature regularly in the starting eleven over the remainder of the season.
Bjelanovic believes that, if Lukaku is back for good after the World Cup break, he can be decisive as he was across his first two seasons with the Nerazzurri.
“Nobody could have expected all these injuries to happen to him,” the former striker said of Lukaku.
“When he returned everyone was happy, but I think they can still be happy, because when the real Lukaku returns he’ll be a player who is decisive in Serie A,” Bjelanovic added.
The former Croatian international also commented on Brozovic, stating that “He’s a fundamental player for Croatia, despite the fact that we also have Kovacic and Modric, who are also top players.”
“He gives balance, we need to see whether he’s fully fit,” he added of the Nerazzurri midfielder.
“With him at 100% our chances increase, I hope he can play as many games as possible.”
