F1 Fans Are Livid Over Silverstone's Handling Of Tickets Of The British Grand Prix

Tickets to the British Grand Prix have gone live today on the Silverstone website, and while this should be a moment for fans to be jumping with excitement, instead they’ve taken to Twitter to express their anger over the track and its handling of the ticket sales.

This comes only weeks after fans were annoyed that Silverstone was planning to raise the price of these tickets during the sale, explaining that they’ll “be on sale soon.”

“You’ll need to book fast; our prices will be increased based on demand. These prices will automatically refresh after every 90 seconds.”

“Oh great, Silverstone has turned into Ryanair,” one fan of the sport said.

Despite a record attendance of 401,000, Silverstone has noted the increase in interest in the sport and is cashing in. But now, with the tickets being released today, customers haven’t been able to purchase the tickets due to the site going down thanks to the sheer number of people trying to get on the site.

“F*ck me,” someone posted to Twitter. “Silverstone have the NERVE of increasing prices whilst people can’t get on the website???” [sic]

Fans have been stuck in queues before finally making it to the front before getting kicked off the site due to it going down. With them then being pushed to the back of the queue once again, ticket sales have still been increasing, making it very difficult for anyone to be able to get a price for an adequate price.

“So Silverstone 3 day ticket I was looking at when I first tried was from £559, I’ve been repeatedly kicked out of queues and now it’s from £689. Wow, sh*tty way to treat the fans this.” [sic]

“What an absolute shambles Silverstone is. Don’t announce ticket release time and then when they do you get to the front of the queue for tickets for the website to crash and put you to the back of the queue,” one of the many users complaining said.

With the huge increase in popularity of F1, it’s no surprise that Silverstone is looking to cash in, and while there will always be people who can afford such huge ticket prices and it’s likely that they will still sell them all, they’re kicking fans who can’t afford these tickets to the kerb.

Hopefully, fans of the sport will make enough noise so this poor show from the track won’t be repeated. I certainly won’t be buying a ticket after this absolute shambles.
