FANS of the beloved children's TV show Fraggle Rock are beyond excited for the return of the iconic show.

The TV show, originally created by Muppet maestro Jim Henson, is making a comeback on Apple TV+ with the reboot Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock.

Its return on January 21 will see many favourite characters back on the screen including Gobo, Red, Moko, Uncle Travelling Matt, Wembley and Boober.

Even the famous original theme tune is back with a 21st century remix for the 13 episode reboot.

Some very A-List names are also scheduled to pop up in the new show including, Cynthia Erivo, Patti LaBelle, Ed Helms, Kenan Thompson, rock band Foo Fighters and Daveed Diggs.

The Fraggles will "kick off the new year by embarking on epic, hilarious adventures about the magic that happens when we celebrate and care for our interconnected world", according to a statement by Apple TV.

The announcement of the new series has sent fans into a tizz and can barely wait for it drop on the streaming service.

"I am so glad @AppleTVPlus are bringing back #fragglerock," wrote one happy fan on Twitter.

Another added: "It’s not all bad news, #FraggleRock is coming back!"

With a catchy theme tune and loveable characters, the Muppet-inspired show was a big hit when it launched in 1983.

It ran for 96 episodes until 1987 and featured a cast of puppet creatures including Fraggles, Doozers and Gorgs.

The carefree Fraggles spend most of their time playing, exploring and having fun while the smaller, more industrious Doozers spend most of their time building.

They live in fear of the Gorgs, who consist of Ma, Pa and Junior, who are always on the hunt to catch an elusive Fraggle.

And who could forget wise old Marjory the Trash Heap, who was always on hand for much needed advice.

Fraggle Rock kept children in the 80s entertained, and was broadcast in 95 countries.

The beloved series will be rebooted as Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock.
