Furious Bake Off fans claim show is 'fixed' after Jürgen gets the boot
FANS of The Great British Bake Off are up in arms today after fan favourite Jürgen Krauss was booted from the tent on last night's show.
The German baker impressed viewers throughout his time on the Channel 4 show with his elaborate bakes that included a delicious gluten-free triple chocolate cake and mouth-watering yuzu chouxnuts.
Despite wining the technical on last night's GBBO, the 56-year-old's showstopper caused him to fall at the final hurdle and he was voted off a week before the final.
In light of his shock exit, viewers took to Twitter in their droves to share their heartbreak and brand the show a "fix".
One penned: "Me and Ali having a serious debate about how bake off is fixed and Juergen got scammed".
"Don't think I'll bother, as it's obviously fixed on who Paul Hollywood likes and not baking skills," another claimed.
A third wrote: "Jurgen is just the cutest, what a load of nonsense for him to leave #[email protected]#BoycottBakeOff#freejurgen".
"Bake off is the most fixed programme ever. lol," another fumed.
An angered viewer claimed: "Bake Off is clearly fixed for the person they have already predetermined will be more tv friendly for a spin off they can milk".
Having bagged two star baker awards early in the series, many thought the gentle German was a dead cert for the final.
But it all unravelled at the worst possible time, and the writing was on the wall early in tonight's episode.
The usually tough Paul Hollywood dished out his prize handshakes liberally in patisserie week - with only Jurgen not receiving one.
During the signature challenge, which saw he bakers tasked with creating eight identical slices, Paul said to Jurgen: "I like it, but I don't love it."
It placed him at the bottom of the pile going into the remaining challenges, and despite improved performances, it wasn't enough to put him ahead of his baking rivals.
In an episode of fine margins, it was Crystelle, 26, who had the most to smile about after being crowned the penultimate star baker for her "flawless" showstopper.
She cried tears of joy and said the accolade meant so much, while Jurgen held back tears and admitted he wasn't shocked by the judges decision.
