Great British Bake Off's eliminated baker writes emotional exit letter
The Great British Bake Off viewers were left baffled last night, when judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood eliminated former star baker Jürgen Krauss from the competition.
In last night's episode (Tuesday, November 16) of the Channel 4 show, the German fan favourite and fellow semi-finalists Crystelle, Chigs and Giuseppe were tasked with making layered slices, a sablé breton tart and a showstopping entremet display, as part of Pâtisserie Week.
Unfortunately, Jürgen was the only baker not to receive a Hollywood handshake in the first round and, despite winning the Technical Challenge, he was subsequently set packing, narrowly missing out on a place in next week's final.

In his moving exit letter, the database administrator likened being on Bake Off to flying to the moon, and acknowledged those watching at home for their "kindness and warmth" during his stint on the show.
"It was such a fantastic ride!" he wrote. "I have made 11 new friends and met the most amazing crew! Preparing all the recipes gave me confidence to experiment with flavours in sweet baking, to an extent I've never done before.
"A huge thank you to all of you for all the kindness and warmth in your response and support! Lots of love, Jürgen."

"As it was so close, all 4 contestants should have gone through to the final," a Twitter user wrote in response to his note. "It would have made sense with 4 such exceptional bakers. Paul & Pru missed a chance there to create a fantastic final!"
"I wanted him to win," another tweeted, alongside a photo of a sad-looking Kermit the Frog.
"So sorry to see you go, Jürgen," a third said. "You more a fantastic baker, and came across as a lovely, genuine gentleman."
The Great British Bake Off airs on Tuesdays at 8pm Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.
