Hollyoaks icon and I’m A Celeb star Nick Pickard ‘raised millions for charity’
Hollyoaks veteran Nick Pickard raised some serious money for charity before joining I’m A Celebrity.
The actor, 48, who has played Tony Hutchinson since the programme first aired in 1995, is flying the soap flag alongside politician Nigel Farage and This Morning host Josie Gibson.
While Nick is currently still in the jungle, his close friend and Hollyoaks co-star Ashley Taylor Dawson (Darren Osborne) revealed how the actor raises money behind the scenes,
‘Nick is Mr Hollyoaks,’ Ashley said. ‘He’s an amazing friend. He’s always been there for me, and looked out for me.’
He added to The Sun: ‘But what a lot of people don’t know is all the money he’s raised for charity with the Hollyoaks football matches.
‘It’s all Nick. He’s always done it. He gets in contact with the charities, the amount of work he’s done over the years, we’ve raised millions and that’s all down to Nick and all the hard work he does, the organising, he goes beyond organising the games.’
Elsewhere, Nick’s girlfriend Sarah recently hit back at accusations her partner is playing a game.
Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on Tuesday, she explained: ‘I don’t know if some people might think he has a game plan, and that was his whole game but he’s absolutely not.
She added that the reason he comes across as quiet on the show is because he isn’t fighting for attention, adding that he’ll ‘be getting along and having a good laugh with everyone’.
Channel 4 recently confirmed a big change to its schedule, one of which includes the removal of Hollyoaks from its channel.
In 2023 64% of viewers watched the soap via streaming or E4, resulting in 556 million minutes of the show being streamed in the first half of the year.
Speaking about the shake-up, Nick added: ‘It’s all about if the money’s still coming in and we’ve been told that we definitely go on until at least the 30th anniversary so that’s as far as I know.’
‘I’m only contracted year to year anyway. So I’ve always taken each year as it comes and like every there’s a few of us in the cast and every time we get a contract we go out and have a little drink and say it’s another year in the sunshine.’
