I'm A Celebrity's Simon Gregson's net worth and family life

Simon Gregson is swapping the cobbles for the castle as he joins this year's series of I'm a Celebrity.

The 47-year-old is best known for his role as Steve McDonald on Coronation Street, which has played for over three decades.

Simon grew up in Stockport, Greater Manchester, and first joined the Corrie cast in 1989.

He has won a number of soap awards for his performances on the cobbles including an award for Best On-Screen Partnership in 2019 with actress Kate Ford, who plays the role of Tracy McDonald.

Simon's net worth is reportedly in the region of £1 million.

The soap star is also thought to earn around £150,000 a year for his role on Coronation Street.

Simon has been married to long-term partner Emma Gleave since 2010, and the couple have three children Alfie, Henry and Harry together.

The family live in a 1930s style home near Wilmslow in Cheshire.

It is not known what Simon's wife Emma does for a living.

Simon has previously revealed how he and Emma had suffered 11 miscarriages, including one at 21 weeks and four days, the MEN reports.

He shared the heartbreaking news following his on-screen storyline which saw ex wife Michelle, played by actress Kym Marsh, lose their baby son Ruairi at 23 weeks.

Simon said at the time: “Me and Emma have lost children, the first one 21 weeks and four days.

“As a bloke being there and witness to all this, you feel completely helpless. Your wife who’s carried the baby, and has now given birth to the baby and then there’s all the stuff that goes along with being a human being, the chemical reaction, everything that goes on in your brain and the hormones.

“The bloke’s there completely helpless. What’s he supposed to do but support."

Simon has also previously opened up about his battle with anxiety in the past and how he sought help.

Simon said: “It’s a hidden, awful emotion but it’s treatable and manageable with the right help. Tablets work different for different people, mine worked with therapy.

“You need to find the right one for you. Life is complicated, enjoy, embrace and love each other.”

The Coronation Street star is set to enter Gwrych Castle on Thursday's episode of I'm A Celebrity alongside EastEnders actor Adam Woodyatt as this years wild cards.

Speaking to the Mirror Online ahead of entering the castle, Simon said he is looking forward to showing fans a different side to him that they don't see on Coronation Street.

He said: "I think it will be nice for people who are fans of the show to see a different side.

"How big a difference that side is yet to be seen! They might just be like, 'Oh my god, he's just like Steve!'

"So yeah, it will be nice for people to see a different side."

"When you're doing something like this, if nerves get the better of you, it's kind of hard to show your true side anyway! So maybe it's time to relax and tell some stories, so they'll get to see a different side. But who knows!

"I might be a complete ball of nerves and won't be able to speak at all!"
