In Profile: John Eustace
John Eustace returned to his hometown and signed a three-year contract to be Blues' Head Coach on Sunday. Here is everything you need to know about the new gaffer.
1) John Mark Eustace was born in Solihull on Saturday 3 November 1979, the same day that Jim Smith's Birmingham City beat Fulham 2-4 at Craven Cottage
2) After training with Blues in his youth, he joined Coventry City as a trainee and worked his way into the first team picture to earn himself a maiden outing in a 1999 League Cup tie with Tranmere Rovers.
3) Prior to this, but whilst on the Sky Blues' books, the midfielder had made his professional bow north of the border as a loanee at Dundee United. Debuting in a 3-0 success over Aberdeen, he made 10 starts in 13 appearances and scored once for the Terrors in the second half of the 1998/99 Scottish Premier League season.
4) Playing in the Premier League for two campaigns with Coventry and making another temporary switch to top-flight Middlesbrough, he left Highfield Road after seven years and 96 appearances in 2003.
