FIT FOR A PRINCESS Inside beautiful £2.5m a night country mansion where Princess Anne stayed – it even has a library

BEAUTIFUL images have revealed the glamorous interior of a country mansion where Princess Anne once stayed.

The 19th century period stone house in Mawddach Estuary, Barmouth, Wales, sits on 36 acres of its own land.

Located close to Snowdonia National Park, it's in a remote part of the Welsh countryside.

The stunning home dates back to the 1800s but was extended at the turn of the 20th century which saw the gardens that are still there now, landscaped.

Glan Y Mawddach was visited by the Princess Royal, 73, during her official trip to the country in 1987.

Although it has been restored since, in the early 2000s, the home still has some of its original features.

To accompany the six bedrooms, there is a self-contained flat and even a library.

The Grade II-Listed property now has refurbished bathrooms, period details and woodland access - and is up for sale for £2,500,000.

Timeless features include oak flooring, cornices and ornate ceiling roses, marble fireplaces, silver and ivory bell pushes, a Welsh parlour, glazed lantern roof light, ornate architraves and panelled doors.

The property looks out onto a peaceful beachfront and is accessed by a single road.

Boarded off by a tall wall, the home has complete privacy.

James Sibley from Strutt & Parker said: "Glan Y Mawddach is a very special property. It sits high above the estuary with these staggering views.

"All the principle views face the estuary and you can watch the magical changing of seasons.

"It's a very peaceful house and there is a lovely attention to detail - the wallpaper in the dining room is from the 1930s and all hand-painted.

"It has been designed to maximise the estuary and those views."

Glan Y Mawddach is on the market for £2,500,000. To enquire about this property ring Strutt & Parker on 07919 128326.
