ITV I'm A Celebrity's Ant McPartlin to 'go to producers' over Charlene White

I'm A Celebrity's Ant McPartlin has said he will go to the hit show's producers over contestant Charlene White.

Hosts Ant and Dec shared their confusion over Charlene and her decision to not sleep in the RV, despite having the privilege as the camp's deputy leader. Viewers of the ITV show have labelled the Loose Women star 'selfish' for choosing not to sleep in the sheltered bed.

Every year, the camp's leader and deputy leader are given the privilege of enjoying a bit of luxury, with an RV parked in camp offering the two lucky contestants the chance to sleep in a bed with a roof, as opposed to camping outside on the jungle floor. Much of the controversy surrounds fellow campmate, comedian Seann Walsh who has recently complained of backpains caused by sleeping in a hammock.

However, Charlene was left unimpressed with the RV's sleeping arrangements when she discovered a spider was also making the RV home, the MEN reports. Before she even lay her head, the ITV news anchor cried "I can't do this tonight."

She then privately spoke to the Bush Telegraph, declaring "My bravery levels are done for today. I really don't want to have to sleep in the RV."

Earlier this series, Lionness Jill Own and Hollyoaks-star Owen Warner were allowed to sleep in the RV, before the public were allowed to vote for who would replace them. Matt Hancock and Mike Tindall received the most votes and were both allowed to choose who would be their deputies.

With Matt choosing Charlene and Mike favouring Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver, the foursome went head-to-head in a challenge to see who would be in charge of camp. As Matt and Charlene came up trumps, their privileges include avoiding camp chores and sleeping in comfort.

Although Charlene chose not to sleep in the RV for the first night, citing the limitations of her bravery, she has also refused to sleep in there every other night since. In last night's episode (16 November) hosts Ant and Dec waded in on the situation, claiming they don't understand her reasoning.

During their daily Instagram Lives after the show airs on ITV, the presenting duo asked fans why they think Charlene chooses to sleep in the camp instead. Dec said: "Do you get it? I don’t get it," as Ant replied: "Why would you not want to sleep in there? It can't just be because of the spiders."

He then asked if sleeping alongside former Health Secretary Matt Hancock could be the reason for her choice, with fans quick to reply with their agreement. However, Ant insisted: "I think it might be that but you’ve got to think of others and if other people have to then sleep in a hammock because of your actions and have a bad back, then you’ve got to look at your actions."

They also read a fan's message asking whether or not her refusal is breaking show rules, as her role as deputy camp leader means she cannot partake in chores and must sleep in the RV. To this, Ant replied: "I think maybe she is and I’m going to speak to the producers about it."

As well as the presenters giving their two pence, Owen tried to convince Charlene to change her sleeping arrangements, mindful that Seann has not yet slept in one of the camp's beds. He had a quiet word with the journalist, who replied saying she would "try" and change her place. Despite this, when it came to resting their heads, Charlene once again chose to sleep under the stars.
