Jadon Sancho sends message to 'non-believers' after embarrassing Erik ten Hag

Jadon Sancho has hit out at those who didn’t believe in him after helping Borussia Dortmund reach the Champions League final.

Dortmund picked up a 1-0 win at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night to get past Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 on aggregate. Mats Hummels headed in the only goal as the German side produced a rear-guard action and rode their luck to upset the odds and book a place in the final against Bayern Munich or Real Madrid.

Sancho started both legs for Edin Terzic’s side and appears to have rediscovered a love of football since re-joining Dortmund on loan from Manchester United in January. The 24-year-old winger left United under a cloud after a very public falling out with Erik ten Hag and Dortmund’s run in the Champions League has given him the chance to send a message back to Old Trafford.

Sancho enjoyed himself after the win in Paris, with a video posted on social media showing him belting out Adele's ballad 'Someone Like You'. Dortmund’s official accounts were also up to some mischief, mocking PSG with a historic tweet, and using Canadian rapper Drake to make a point about Sancho.

The club’s Instagram account shared a picture of Sancho celebrating in Paris with Drake superimposed below. In the clip, Drake can be heard saying: "To the rest of you, the non-believers, the under-achievers, the tweet and deleters... You guys make me sick to my stomach." Replying to the post, Sancho wrote: "LOL FACTS!"

He kept things more simple on his own page. To his 10 million followers, he wrote: “Champions League Final! Wow wow wow, Unbelievable! @bvb09. WEMBLEY HERE WE COME!”

Sancho has returned just three goals and two assists in 21 games for Dortmund since January, but his performances against PSG showed that statistics can be deceiving. He was a constant threat in the first leg, terrorising left-back Nuno Mendes with his fearless dribbling.

The United loanee is clearly enjoying himself with Dortmund, but he has remained tight-lipped about his future. United paid Dortmund £73m for his services in the summer of 2021 and he is under contract there until June 2026.

"Obviously I came here at 17 and they gave me the opportunity to play professional football so I'm just delighted with all the staff and players that welcomed me back,” he said after the first-leg win. Former goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, then directly asked whether he would remain with the club. Sancho replied: "Who me? I really don't know. I'm just focused on the present right now."

Dortmund have two more matches in the Bundesliga before the Champions League final at Wembley on June 1. They will try to move up from fifth place, past RB Leipzig into fourth, when they face Mainz and Darmstadt.
