Leandro Trossard interrupts Ben White to emphatically end debate on Arsenal star

Leandro Trossard insisted Ben White meant his second goal in Arsenal's victory over Chelsea, despite questions over whether it was a mishit cross.

White scored twice in the Gunners' 5-0 derby win., the first time he has scored a Premier League brace. While the first was a well-taken finish after chaos in the Chelsea box, his second might have been a little less intentional.

During a post-match interview with TNT Sports, White paused when asked if he had intended his second. Before he could answer, though, Trossard responded for him. White then suggested it didn't matter either way, with the important thing being that he'd scored.

Kai Havertz also scored two second half goals, to go along with Trossard's early opener. For White, though, the double ensured he is enjoying his best ever season in front of goal with four in the league.

The result ensures Arsenal still have by far the best defensive record in the league with just 26 goals conceded. Goal difference could yet factor into the title race, with Mikel Arteta's team way out in front in that regard, and Trossard was proud of his colleagues' defensie effort.

"They say clean sheets help you win games and that's what it is," the Belgian said. "We know if we score a goal then a lot of times we can win by 1-0, but obviously we want to go for more.

"Today was the perfect night, where we scored loads of goals. It's credit to everyone because everyone works so hard defensively, attackers, midfielders, and we are just one team and you can see that on and off the pitch.

"It's not just the defence that's keeping the clean sheets," White added. "The wingers are working so hard tracking back and it's so important for us."

Next up for Arsenal is a North London Derby against Tottenham, though their title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City are in action before that weekend match. Speaking after the victory over Chelsea, though, Gunners boss Arteta spoke of the need to enjoy their own midweek victory,

"It is a big London derby and we know what it means for the fans," Arteta said after the win. "We will enjoy it and rest and get ready for the next one.

"What I would like is that the players can manage themselves in the dressing room. You have to leave them some space. They know what they are playing for.

"That's what holds the team together. My role is to demand of them and also in the right moments make them believe they can do it. We have a lot of games coming up. Let's enjoy tonight and let's go back to work."
