McDonald’s Halloween Pumpkin Pails are coming back for 2022
McDonald’s is putting the “Happy Halloween” back into its Happy Meals this year as the fast-food chain brings back its pumpkin-shaped buckets for Halloween 2022.
The spooky treats are returning for the first time since 2016, NightmareNostalgia reports, after first being released in 1986. It’s safe to say kids across the country – and adults – are more than excited about the return of the nostalgic toys.

They’re back! After a six-year absence, McDonald’s Pumpkin Pails are making a comeback this Halloween.
The buckets were first offered as a classic trio of jack-o-lanterns – McPunk’n, McBoo and McGoblin – in 1986 and the same characters will return this year, Nightmare Nostalgia reports.
Introduced as the Halloween Pumpkin Happy Meal, the Pumpkin Pails returned in 1987 before undergoing a makeover in 1989 with the addition of a white ghost and a green witch.
Nightmare Nostalgia reports glow-in-the-dark vinyl treat bags or “McBoo Bags” replaced the buckets in 1991. In 1992, McPunk’n, McBoo and McWitch returned with new cookie-cutter lids.
Who knows what the toys will be this year? We’ll have to wait and see.
With news spreading fast, fans of the fast food chain have been going wild on Twitter about the latest news. One wrote:
Another person had asked the toys to make a return – it appears their wish may have come true:
Another tweeted: “Rumors of the return of the McDonalds Halloween pails for this October! I would buy at least one of each!”
When will the Halloween pails return?
With excitement brewing, it has been confirmed the McDonald’s Halloween Pails Happy Meal is expected to run from October 18 to October 31, 2022 at participating McDonald’s restaurants.
Despite it being such a short spell of availability, there’s plenty of time to try to collect each of the pails before Halloween hits.
