Scott Brown plans to raid the Scottish market after taking over the reins at Fleetwood Town.

The Celtic legend yesterday landed his first managerial gig at the English League One club and is already preparing for next season.

Former Hibs teammate and Dunfermline No2 Steven Whittaker is set to head south as Brown's assistant manager.

And it's expected a number of other names from the SPFL could follow him down the road as Brown aims to put his stamp on the squad.

He told Sky Sports News: "There's a few players that are out of contract. A few loan players will be going back as well.

"So there will be players coming in and going. It's part and parcel of any football club, it's going to happen.

"Obviously I want to put my own stamp on things and play the way I want to play as well.

"Pre-season is going to be huge for us. We're going away so the lads will be able to get some sun and not the wind here!"

Having spent all of his career in Scotland, Brown admits he has some homework to do on the English leagues.

The former Aberdeen player/coach said: "There's a lot of studying for us to do. We've got great recruitment staff here that scouts a lot of players.

"The job for myself and my assistant is to sit down and start studying and find out what positions we need.

"As I say, there's a lot of players who are out of contract and we're quite weak down that left hand side now with the players leaving. First and foremost, we are going to study them.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge. I know the Scottish market very well. There's a lot of Scottish players out of contract there as well. Hopefully we can maybe force one of those deals through very soon."
