Nia Long posts about “enlightenment” amid Ime Udoka suspension reports
Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka is reportedly facing disciplinary suspension, according to an ESPN report on Wednesday.
According to the publication, team leaders are discussing a “significant suspension” for the basketball coach’s “role in a consensual, intimate relationship with a woman who is a member of the franchise’s staff”, as per their sources.
Shortly after the reports surfaced, Udoka’s partner Nia Long shared a video about “enlightenment” on Instagram.

According to The Athletic‘s Shams Charania, Udoka had “an improper intimate and consensual relationship with a female member of the team staff”, as per their sources.
The report came after ESPN Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted that Udoka “is facing possible disciplinary action” for an “unspecified violation of organizational guidelines”.
Wojnarowski wrote in a second Twitter post: “No final decision has been made on the length of a suspension, but internal discussions have included scenarios that would keep Udoka out for the entirety of the 2022-2023 season, sources told ESPN.”
ESPN reports that the relationship was “considered a violation of the organization’s guidelines” and a decision about Udoka’s suspension will be confirmed on Thursday.

Following the reports, Udoka’s long-time partner Nia Long posted a cryptic “enlightenment” video on her Instagram Stories.
As reported by ClutchPoints, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actress shared a snippet of a 30-second video that shows a forest, followed by a voiceover with motivational words.
The narrator talks about “walking down a path of enlightenment” and “connecting with nature”, “loving themselves” and “embracing positivity”.

Udoka and Long have been in a long-term relationship after first being introduced to each other through a mutual friend in 2010.
The pair welcomed a son together in November 2011 and announced their engagement in June 2015. Long has another son called Massai from a previous relationship.
Udoka has been based in San Antonio, Philadelphia and Brooklyn for his coaching job, while Long has often travelled across the US for her acting career.
In Essence’s Yes Girl podcast in 2020, Long revealed why she and the NBA coach have never walked down the aisle.
“I understand the religious aspect of marriage. That is beautiful and it’s fantastical and it’s dreamy and it’s every girl’s fantasy to have that moment. But I don’t know that I need that,” she said.
“Love is complicated … and then you start a marriage, which I’ve never been married. And there’s a reason for that because I don’t know that I need to say ‘I do’ to prove to you that I love you. But also, what does marriage really [mean] that you own me now and I own you? I don’t get that part.”
