Odds of Harry and Meghan Markle attending Coronation slashed after 'big shift'

Bookmakers have slashed the odds on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returning to the UK for King Charles's Coronation in May.

The Monarch will be coronated at Westminster Abbey alongside his wife, Queen Camilla, in front of the world leaders and foreign royals, with millions expected to watch it on TV.

However there has been much speculation about whether the King's youngest son Harry and his family will attend the celebrations, with relations between them going from bad to worse in recent months.

Harry and Meghan returned the UK for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations last year, however they were only involved in one of the official events. They also returned for the Queen's funeral in September.

But since then Harry has published his highly-anticipated memoir Spare, in which he attacked pretty much every member of his family.

Coral has now cut its odds as short as 1-3 that Harry and Meghan WILL attend, dropping from 4-5 earlier this week.

Spokesman John Hill said: "There has been a big shift in our betting in the last 24 hours on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attending King Charles III’s Official Coronation.

"We now make the couple as short as 1/3 to attend. Those odds indicate there is a 75% chance that they will take their seats at Westminster Abbey."

Earlier this month insiders told the Mirror that Harry and Meghan were yet to make a decision about whether to attend the celebrations, which falls on their son Archie's fourth birthday.

The couple have since confirmed they have been officially invited. Their spokesman said: "I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty's office regarding the coronation.

"An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time."

Insiders have also told the Mirror that Harry wants a meeting with his father to talk through the issues between them before making a final decision.

They said: "Harry has been very clear and his position hasn't wavered – he isn't going to come if he feels the atmosphere will be as toxic as it was during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and funeral.

"He's said he wants to reconcile with his family and it’s their call, but so far nothing has changed."

During an interview with Tom Bradby on ITV earlier this month, Harry was asked if he will come to the coronation if he is invited, and he said: "There's a lot that can happen between now and then. But, you know, the door is always open. The ball is in their court.

"There's a lot to be discussed and I really hope that they can - that they are willing to sit down and talk about it, because there's a lot that's happened in six years. And prior to that as well."
