Check out our 21/10 West Ham vs Man City prediction below

The London Stadium hasn't been a happy hunting ground for Manchester City in the last couple of years so the fixture computer could have been kinder to Pep Guardiola's Premier League champions.

However, the layers expect City to kick their title defence off with a win at West Ham on Sunday afternoon. City are red-hot 8/13 favourites with Betway, while the hosts are 7/1 to take the biggest scalp of all. The draw, which looks a big runner in this fixture, is 17/4.

Despite having amassed 100,98, 86 and 93 points in their last four title-winning seasons, City are always looking to improve and the signings of Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips undoubtedly strengthen Pep Guardiola's options in key areas. The key signing is Haaland who brings a cutting edge to their attack that has sometimes been missing.

City's pre-season hasn't been as intense in terms of number of fixtures as many Premier League sides but the Community Shield fixture, for all that it resulted in defeat, woudl have been an important building block ahead of the season's opener.

City won this fixture 5-0 in 2019 but Pep Guardiola's side have failed to win any of their last three trips to the London Stadium in league and cup. The Hammers have become a tough side to beat in their own back yard, indeed none of lasty year's top four won in east London.

David Moyes has been dealt a blow with the injury to new central defender Nayef Aguerd who cost £30m from Rennes but the Hammers are a well-drilled group that make life difficult for any opponent, even one as high-class as City.

City lost their opening game last season and they might not get things all their own way this time around either. Much depends on how quickly Eerling Haaland his his straps and integrates into their attacking patterns and on the evidence of the Community Shield, that might take a little longer than many had expected.

With that in mind, it might not be wise to pile into City at cramped odds this time. A better wager looks to be the West Ham/Draw double chance option, which is a shade above 2/1.
