Rangers v Hibernian: Ex-Airdrie loan star surprise starter in cup semi-final
Former Airdrie loan star Josh Campbell has made a surprise start for Hibs in their Premier Sports Cup semi-final clash with Rangers this afternoon.
The Diamonds faithful will remember the midfielder from his spell at New Broomfield in 2019 when he joined on loan from the Hibees in the January transfer window.
Campbell made 15 appearances for Ian Murray's men in the second half of the 2019/20 season on their way to a third-place finish in League One - and now he is starring in a big semi-final clash at Hampden this afternoon.
The 21-year-old - who also had loan spells at Arbroath and Edinburgh City - has only made five appearances for the capital side so far this term, with two outings in the Premiership. He featured in a win over Motherwell in August and a defeat to Celtic last month.
But he has been thrust into a huge game for Jack Ross' side, who are back in action following Covid-enforced postponements of their last two games against Ross County and Livingston.
The winners of today's clash will play Celtic in the final next month.
The teams for the clash are as follows:
