RANGERS B Team collected three points after a 6-3 victory against Cumbernauld Colts at Broadwood Stadium this afternoon.

Six goals from Charlie McCann, Connor Young, Charlie Lindsay, Zak Lovelace, Charlie Lindsay, Lewis MacKinnon and Arron Lyall saw the Light Blues gain another important win and three points in the league campaign.

Robbie Fraser, Connor Allan, Lewis MacKinnon, and Jack Harkness were the defending backline with Lewis Budinauckas behind them in goals.

Charlie Lindsay was joined in midfield by Mackenzie Strachan and Charlie McCann, with Connor Young and Ross McCausland supporting Robbie Ure up front.

The Light Blues began the game with a clear desire to carry the momentum from Tuesday evening’s win against East Kilbride and didn’t have long to wait for the first goal as Rangers were awarded a penalty just two minutes into the match after McCausland was brought down in the Colts’ box. McCann stood up to execute the spot kick and he calmly slotted it past Ryan Adamson to give David McCallum’s side the early advantage.

The young Gers looked eager to build on this early lead and continued to work their way into the home side’s final third. Less than ten minutes later, in form youngster, Connor Young sent a ferocious 25-yard strike sailing past the Colts’ keeper and into the top corner.

This superb start from the Light Blues seemed to encourage a growing confidence that they could extend their early lead, and the front three did ever so well to weave their way into their opponent’s box and create further danger to Adamson in goal.

David Proctor's side did provide some fightback as their attacking line began to threaten the Rangers defence, but Budinauckas made some crucial saves to ensure that the Gers remained in the lead.

On the 24-minute mark, goal scorer Young was replaced by Zak Lovelace after he appeared to suffer a knock. The youngster had an immediate impact after he collected the ball at the back post and sent an angled and cultured shot past the keeper to give his team a three-goal advantage.

This jarred the home side as they looked to rectify the score and close the deficit. Proctor’s side were awarded a penalty on 37 minutes after Ure brought down Craig Holmes in the box, the striker stood up to the penalty spot and managed to send his effort past Budinauckas to close the gap slightly.

Following this, the Gers began to pressure the Colts backline again and youngster, Lovelace, was on hand to supply a dangerous threat. After collecting the ball in the home side’s half, he danced his way past a number of yellow shirts to work his way into the box.

He picked out an on-running Lindsay breaking into the final third who calmly slotted his effort past Adamson with a first-touch shot to give his side a dominant lead as they headed into the half time break.

As the squad returned for the second half, Rangers continued to carry that final third threat towards the Cumbernauld Colts goal with Lindsay delivering a fantastic corner into the box. MacKinnon managed to connect with his effort at the back post and headed the ball straight past the keeper to give his side a four-goal advantage.

Proctor's side began to find some rhythm and weaved their way past the backline to send a dangerous delivery to an unmarked Regan McLaren in the box. He managed to link up with the cross, but his effort drifted over the crossbar.

The home side maintained this attacking threat to the Rangers backline and managed to pull back another goal after McLaren got on the end of the corner to put a shot past Budinauckas.

Less than ten minutes before the close of play, Lyall netted the sixth and final goal for his side after he picked the ball up in the Colts' half. The youngster managed to work his way past several defenders to break into the box and sent a paced effort into the bottom right corner of the net.

On the 90th minute, McLaren managed to net the third for his side after he picked the ball up in the Rangers box and sent a low effort past Budinauckas in goals to end the final score 6-3.
