Report: Wolves place Forest boss Steve Cooper under consideration

Wolves will place Steve Cooper under consideration for their head coach vacancy should Nottingham Forest sack him.

According to The Telegraph, the Reds incumbent is on the brink after a 4-0 defeat to Leicester City last night.

Wolves are looking for a new boss after dismissing Bruno Lage on Sunday after defeat to West Ham a day earlier.

Cooper achieved the unthinkable last season, taking Forest from the bottom of the Championship to the Premier League via the play-offs.

Now, after five defeats in succession, he is clinging to his job by a thread.

Forest face Aston Villa at home in their next game and it remains to be seen whether Cooper will get one more chance.

Wolves are already monitoring the situation as they weigh up a number of options to replace Lage.

It seems unthinkable that Cooper would get the chop after one sticky period in just over a year in charge of the club.

He needs the backing of the supporters and the club’s hierarchy more than ever now and Forest must be careful what they wish for.

Cooper is enduring a tough baptism of fire in the Premier League and he will be desperate to earn a chance to get things right.

It’s absolutely no surprise that the Welshman is wanted by other clubs.

His stock couldn’t be higher after his impressive work in the Championship with Swansea and Forest.

There is an argument that last season’s Forest team won promotion with too many loan players.

That meant that the Reds had to sign 22 players during the summer and there is no cohesiveness to the team at the moment.

Wolves would be getting themselves a very decent head coach and Forest could rue sacking him and letting him go to another top-flight club.
