Richards says Spurs will win a trophy if Conte, Son and Kane stay
Speaking on the Match of the Day Top 10 Podcast, Micah Richards has been discussing Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of winning some silverware in the next few years.
The north London outfit are often the butt of many a joke due to their long trophy drought, and sadly, despite their brilliance over the past six or seven years, Spurs haven’t been able to break through that barrier.
Time is ticking on Spurs’ so-called golden generation as Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son edge towards their 30s, but according to Richards, if Kane, Son and Antonio Conte stay together, Spurs will taste some success in the next five years.
Richards and Gary Lineker spoke about Son and Spurs’ chances of success.
“You’ve both gone with Heung-Min Son at number two, what a glorious footballer he’s been for Tottenham, it would be so sad if Son and Kane don’t win a trophy at Tottenham in many ways, they’ve been brilliant,” Lineker said.

“If they stay together they will win a trophy. Now that they have Conte it’s different. If they keep Harry Kane, Son and Conte they will win a trophy within the next five years. It might not be the Premier League, it could be the League Cup or the FA Cup.”
Richards says that Spurs could win a League Cup or an FA Cup in the next five years if Conte, Son and Kane stay together, but that’s hardly appealing is it?
Son and Kane are two players that are good enough to play for almost any team in Europe, while Conte has won league titles at almost every club he’s been at.
Of course, Richards may be underplaying Spurs’ chances, but if this is the extent of Spurs’ ambition, then we can’t imagine Conte, Kane or Son staying for five more years.
