Rules around face coverings in England have changed quite a few times over the last 12-18 months depending on the science concerning positive coronavirus results and hospital admissions. Later this week, however, the Government are lifting some restrictions - and having to have your nose and mouth covered while shopping won’t be necessary. But for Sainsbury’s they are asking customers to stick to wearing face masks which doing their food shop in England.

England's current rules require everyone aged 11 and over to wear face coverings in most public indoor venues and on public transport.
This includes places such as shops, hairdressers and taxis, but (unlike the rest of the UK) not pubs, cafes and restaurants, or gyms and leisure centres.
From Thursday, 27 January, face masks will not be legally required in any setting.
However, Sainsbury’s has announced they are keeping the face mask rule across all their supermarkets.
