Sam Quek pregnant with second child just months after giving birth
Sam Quek is pregnant with her second child.
The Question of Sport star is set to welcome baby number two with husband Tom Mairs, just seven months after giving birth to daughter Molly.
Speaking of their happy news, the 32-year-old said: ‘It’s come along quite quickly, so we were pleasantly surprised!’
The Olympian and is set to give birth weeks after Molly’s first birthday, next March, meaning that there will be celebrations galore in their household.
Sam and her husband had always planned to have their children close in age, but the expectant mum told OK! Magazine that she wanted to start trying for a second baby after Christmas.
‘It was a surprise but we didn’t stop it happening, if that makes sense. We did discuss after Molly that we’d like kids close together and what close together meant,’ she continued. ‘My close together was 18 months and I wanted to start trying after Christmas. But Tom’s close together was to start trying after my six-week check.’
Sam’s baby joy comes after she suffered a devastating miscarriage at the beginning of last year, before falling pregnant with Molly.
She explained that it took her time to relax into her pregnancy following their heartbreak, and is still ‘constantly worried’.
‘You just stop yourself getting too excited in case you get any disappointment. It’s sad because when you get pregnant you should have that joy and elation, like Tom does straight away, but even now I’m constantly worried,’ she added. ‘I will be for the whole pregnancy. Anything I feel, even if it’s just wind, I think, “Is everything OK?”
‘Every time I go to the toilet, as a woman, if you’ve had a miscarriage, you will check the tissue for blood. It will never go away and it’s just an unfortunate experience for people who have gone through it. But I think pregnancy is a miracle and part of me is so grateful it’s happened so easily this time.’
Sam and Tom first started dating in 2013 after meeting at a bar in Liverpool, and tied the knot in a swanky wedding five years later.
They introduced daughter Molly in March of this year, and confirmed her arrival with adorable snaps on social media.
The One Show host has since given glimpses of motherhood on social media, proudly showing her tot posing in a matching Liverpool kit.
