Jadon Sancho has spoken about his return to the Manchester United squad after his long absence from the team.

The 22-year-old had spent three months away from the side as he undertook individual training.

In December, United boss Erik ten Hag said Sancho wasn’t ‘physically or mentally’ ready to play, with his last game coming in October.

However, the winger made a return to the side in their 2-0 Carabao Cup win against Nottingham Forest earlier in the week.

Sancho has now posted on Instagram to thank his fans after his emotional return to action.

He said: “Wow! Just want to say a massive thank you to everyone for the support I’ve received over the past few weeks especially to the fans.

“My focus is to give my all to my team and the club, I’m so happy to be back out on the pitch, see you soon.”

Sancho came off the bench in the 63rd minute against Forest, with United winning 5-0 on aggregate in the semi-final.

It was his 15th appearance of the season and his first in the Carabao Cup, with United facing Newcastle in the final at the end of the month.

Since his arrival in 2021, Sancho has struggled found it tricky at Old Trafford scoring just eight goals in 53 appearances.

It is a far cry from his numbers at Dortmund as he netted 50 times in 137 appearances for the German side.

United fans will be hopeful than he can return to his best throughout the rest of the season.

The Red Devils could win their first piece of silverware since 2017 later this month, with a Premier League top four finish also on the cards.
