Scottish Roundup: Danilo’s header sparks pressure-easing win for Beale and Rangers

Danilo set Rangers up for a 2-0 victory against St Johnstone but suffered a fractured cheekbone in scoring at McDiarmid Park. The win will ease the pressure on the Rangers manager, Michael Beale, after defeats to Celtic and PSV Eindhoven before the international break.
The Brazilian striker Danilo headed the Rangers ahead after 16 minutes but had to be substituted straight after. The substitute Rabbi Matondo added a second in the 79th minute but it was another below par performance against a side who are still seeking for their first league win of the season.
Rangers begin their Europa League campaign with a home game against Real Betis on Thursday.
David Turnbull scored a penalty to send Celtic on their way to a 3-0 win over Dundee, ahead of their trip to Feyernoord on Tuesday.
The champions scored all their goals in a 16-minute spell after half-time. Turnbull beat Trevor Carson from the spot in the 51st minute after being fouled from Grant Irvine as he held off a challenge from Ryan Howley on the edge of the box.
The VAR official, Steven Kirkland, upgraded the free kick to a penalty and Turnbull converted down the middle.
Kyogo Furuhashi doubled the lead in the 63rd minute, despite heading down the tunnel during the first half for treatment to a recurring shoulder injury. The Japanese striker made an untracked run to meet Callum McGregor’s cross and head home from 12 yards. Furuhashi assisted four minutes later as he ran on to Alistair Johnston’s pass to cut the ball back for Matt O’Riley to side-foot home.
St Mirren beat Motherwell 1-0 at Fir Park to continue their unbeaten start to the season and move into second position in the table. Scott Tanser volleyed home the only goal after 55 minutes and although they created many opportunities, the hosts failed to find the net.
Steven Naismith kicked off his reign as the permanent head coach of Hearts with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Aberdeen.
Goals either side of the interval from Yutaro Oda and Liam Boyce gave his side three points and left the Dons joint bottom of the Premiership with St Johnstone before their Europa Conference League group game at Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.
Kilmarnock’s second-half fightback secured a 2-2 draw and ensure the new Hibernian manager, Nick Montgomery, will have to wait for his first win. Will Dennis’s own goal handed Hibs the advantage after eight minutes before Dylan Vente’s cool finish made it 2-0 to Hibs just before the hour mark and seemingly had Kilmarnock beaten.
But Kyle Vassell halved the deficit two minutes later with a close-range finish before Joe Wright headed home Danny Armstrong’s cross to rescue a point.
Bruce Anderson scored the equaliser as Livingston secured a 1-1 draw at Ross County. Simon Murray continued his prolific form in front of goal to put the Staggies in front in the 60th minute, only for Anderson to level for the visitors 12 minutes later.
