Sophie, Countess of Wessex and Prince Edward watched the grandchildren's vigil for the Queen from a viewing platform earlier this evening. The senior royals were there because their children, Lady Louise Windsor, 18 and James, Viscount Severn, 14 were taking part in the vigil alongside their cousins. Sophie, like other senior members of the Royal Family, has been carrying out several duties this week.
Earlier today, she and Prince Edward greeted members of the public outside Buckingham Palace to thank them for paying their respects and offering the family their well wishes at this difficult time.
Tonight, however, it was obvious how “distraught” Sophie is by the passing of her mother-in-law.
