Scores of schools across Wales have been forced to close today as snow hits parts of the country. There is a yellow weather warning for snow in place for almost all of Wales spanning overnight on Tuesday into the afternoon on Wednesday, January 18. As a result, several schools have decided to close their doors.

On Tuesday, temperatures dropped to -7.7°C and The Met Office has warned it will be another windy and cold day, with wintry showers and sunny spells. They added that it would be a “frosty” and “icy start” for some places, with snow at time particularly over high ground.

Showers will mostly be widespread in the west and will be windier than recent days, especially around the Welsh coastline. The maximum temperature 6 °C. Roads across the country have been closed or drivers warned not to travel due to black ice causing difficulties.
