The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 – Everything you need to know

There's nothing quite like a cutesy rom-com to make our hearts burst, and we've got it in abundance with the new Prime Video series, The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Based on the book trilogy by Jenny Han, The Summer I Turned Pretty follows Belly as she tries to navigate a love triangle with her two oldest friends (who also happen to be brothers... complicated.)

But by the end of the season, it looks like she's finally picked her man... however with two more books to get through, is that decision going to stick?

Here's everything you need to know about what lies ahead for Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah.

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 potential release date: Will there be a season 2?

Yes! There is definitely a second season on the way; the question is just when we're going to see it.

As far as we know, filming is yet to begin on the series, but it's likely due to the show being based around summer; another June/July release will be on the cards for season two.

We'd hedge our bets; that's when we'll see it in 2023.

If there's any update, we'll let you know as soon as we know.

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 cast: Who's in it?

Lola Tung leads the show's cast as Belly, with Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno playing the brothers fighting for her affection, Conrad and Jeremiah.

The show just wouldn't exist without these three, so expect them all to return.

Elsewhere, Jackie Chung as Belly's mother Laurel, and Sean Kaufman as her brother Steven will also likely be back.

In the upcoming season, Conrad and Jeremiah's father, John, will likely become more involved in the central plot.

One person though we're not sure we'll be seeing is Rachel Blanchard, who plays the boys' mum, Susanna. Revealing her cancer has returned by the end of season one, she also announced that she would not be pursuing alternative treatments after exhausting herself with years of chemotherapy.

If she's sadly died in-between seasons, there's still a chance she could appear in flashbacks.

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 plot: What will happen?

The second season of The Summer I Turned Pretty will follow the second in Jenny Han's book series, titled It's Not Summer Without You.

And let's just say Belly and Conrad's romantic ending from season one doesn't last very long.

The book synopsis reads: "It used to be that Belly counted the days until summer until she was back at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah. But not this year. Not after Susannah got sick again, and Conrad stopped caring. Everything that was right and good has fallen apart, leaving Belly wishing summer would never come.

"But when Jeremiah calls saying Conrad has disappeared, Belly knows what she must do to make things right again. And it can only happen back at the beach house, the three of them together, the way things used to be. If this summer really and truly is the last summer, it should end the way it started – at Cousins Beach."

While there may be tweaks to elements of the plot, it's expected that this will stay largely the same. And by the looks of things, this love triangle is about to get much messier.

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 trailer: When can I see it?

Patience is a virtue, guys! Unfortunately, it looks like we're a long way off from seeing any new footage from the second season just yet.

But keep an eye out, and we'll make sure to keep you in the loop as much as we can about when and where to see Cousins once again.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is available now on Amazon Prime Video.
