This Morning star Dr Uchenna Okoye dies after sudden illness
A medical expert who appeared on This Morning has died. Dr Uchenna Okoye often appeared on the ITV daytime show, as well as 10 Years Younger in 10 Days.
Her loved ones shared a picture of Dr Okoye as they shared news of her death via her Instagram account. They said they knew that fans would be "shocked" by the news.
The post said: "We are heartbroken to announce that Dr Uchenna Okoye sadly passed away after a sudden illness on Friday 15th September 2023. We know many of you will be devastated and shocked to see this post. We ask for your prayers and some privacy at this difficult time. We will be in touch in the coming days."
Fans responded with tributes, reports the Mirror, with one saying: "Our wonderful Uchenna - it’s so sad. Vibrancy, kindness, generosity and love were in her soul and those of us who knew her adored her and her beautiful daughter. Condolences to Uchenna’s loving family."
Another added: "Beautiful Uchenna! An industry beacon who quickly became a friend to many of us. So warm, generous and funny. Sending condolences to her family and friends."
A third commented: "Such devastating news. She was such a vital and inspiring woman, and so passionate about her work. Sending much love to her family."
Earlier this year Dr Okoye opened up about the demands of her job and how she relaxed after a long day. Speaking to Hello!, she said: " I always make time for a massage once a week, but I realised these aren't simply a luxury. As a busy dentist, I spent a full 10 hours a day crouched over looking into people’s mouths, so a massage is a necessity."
Dr Okoye admitted her "true indulgence" was lighting a candle. She said it became a daily ritual for her as she has them all over her house. The TV star added: "My daughter loves it too and gets excited when she sees me lighting them as she knows it is her time with me also, it’s downtime." The tragic news came just days after fellow This Morning guest Matty Lock also died.
The 19-year-old was a regular on the ITV daytime show, where he discussed vacuum cleaners. This Morning released a heartbreaking statement following the news, calling him a "delightful young man". The ITV programme wrote: "Everyone at This Morning is shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Matty Lock, aged just 19.
"He was a delightful young man, a joy to work with and his passion for vacuum cleaners and general mechanics was infectious. His family came to the studio and they were so proud that he’d turned a childhood hobby into a career. We will miss him and send our condolences to his family."
