Channel 4’s upcoming documentary shows Tom Parker updating his former The Wanted bandmates on his stage four cancer diagnosis.

The Wanted singer, 33, has documented his battle in upcoming film Tom Parker: Inside My Head, which airs on Channel 4 on Sunday and shows how he and wife Kelsey got through the months of treatment.

Patients with the same tumour as Tom currently have a 10 percent chance of surviving five years after their diagnosis, with their life expectancy averaging between 14 and 16 months after diagnosis.

The emotional feature-length film also sees Tom taking the extraordinary step of arranging a star-studded charity concert at the Royal Albert Hall to raise awareness about brain tumours. With only months to prepare Tom also plans to get former bandmates Nathan Sykes, Max George, Jay McGuiness and Siva Kaneswaran back together to perform on stage for the first time in seven years.

Although it’s been a while since the boys have all been together in the same room, the heartwarming clip shows the band’s bond is as strong as it’s always been.

‘I know right, look at him handsome man,’ Tom replied.

Tom’s former bandmates were keen to know how the star has been feeling, after having treatment.

Tom said: ‘My voice is always a bit hoarse after treatment. When you get told you’ve got an incurable cancer everything just happens so quickly.’

The star’s In My Head charity concert was an emotional moment for Tom as The Wanted took to the stage, where artists Ed Sheeran, Liam Payne and band McFly also made an appearance.

In October last year, the Parker family’s life was turned upside down when they were told that Tom has an inoperable glioblastoma – the most aggressive type of brain tumour.

Now that his first round of treatment has shrunk the tumour, Tom, who shares daughter Aurelia, two, and son Bodhi, 11 months, with wife Kelsey, is determined to turn his situation into something positive while his condition remains stable.

Things are looking positive for the Glad You Came hitmaker, as he is hoping to be ‘cancer-free by March’ as he continues to battle a terminal brain tumour.

He told The Sun: ‘You’ll always be classed as terminal. They give you 12 to 18 months of survival. But that’s the general statistics. Everyone we’ve spoken to has been way, way beyond that.

‘Now, we’re aiming to be cancer free by March. That’s the aim. This disease is always there. You might have residual cells but just not active. So, we’ll just carry on, just crack on and see where we get to.’

Tom Parker: Inside My Head is on Channel 4 on Sunday 10th October at 9pm. Inside My Head – The Concert follows at 10.30pm on 4Music. To donate to Stand Up To Cancer, go to channel4.com/SU2C. 100% of your donation goes to Cancer Research UK in support of the SU2C campaign.
