Watford vs Sheffield United paused due to medical emergency

A medical emergency was reported during Watford’s 1-0 victory in the Championship over Sheffield United.
Play was paused due to an issue in the away end of Vicarage Road, with stewards and St Johns Ambulance crew attending to the incident.
Sheffield United tweeted from their official account: “The game has been paused due to an emergency in the away end. Updates will be provided as information becomes available.”
The match was resumed after a brief break while emergency services tended to the matter.
Several medical emergencies at football matches have been reported in the Premier League and EFL over the past few seasons.
Sensitivities and fears around medical issues at grounds are high, particularly in the wake of a worldwide Coronavirus pandemic.
A goal from Joao Pedro in the second half of the match helped Watford earn their first three points of the season.
