Baltimore bridge collapse: six feared dead

Six construction workers are presumed dead after being sent plunging into a river when a huge container ship destroyed a major road bridge in Baltimore. The Coast Guard said that it had suspended its search and rescue operation just before midnight British time on Tuesday and that they planned to begin a search and recovery effort on Wednesday. “Based on the length of time that we’ve gone in this search [and] the water temperature … at this point we do not believe that we’re going to find any of these individuals still alive,” said Coast Guard Rear Admiral Shannon Gilreath.
