Amid escalating tensions with the US after House speaker Nancy Pelosi’s recent visit to Taiwan, China’s foreign minister, Wang Yi, described Pelosi’s visit as a ‘contemptible farce’, saying she she ‘shot herself in the foot’. Earlier today China declared that it was halting cooperation with the US in a range of portfolios from climate issues to military cooperation.
