China says UK's parliamentary spying allegation is 'pure fabrication'
A Tory parliamentary researcher has been arrested on suspicion of spying for China. Chris Cash, 28, was the director of an influential policy group on Beijing co-founded by the security minister. Cash was closely linked with Tom Tugendhat and was employed as a researcher by Alicia Kearns, chairwoman of the Commons foreign affairs committee. Cash, who was arrested in March, has said he is “completely innocent” in a statement released by his lawyers. He and a second man in his thirties who was arrested at the same time are on police bail until next month. China has labelled the arrest a "political farce” and “malicious slander”.
