Former cabinet minister David Davis has joined calls for Boris Johnson to stand down while backbencher Christian Wakeford has defected to the opposition, in a difficult day for the prime minister. Mr Davis said the PM had failed to take responsibility for his actions, following revelations about lockdown parties in No 10 during Covid lockdown. Mr Wakeford was among the MPs believed to have written a letter of no confidence in Mr Johnson. The PM batted away repeated calls to quit during the stormy Commons session.
