Coronavirus latest - The Health Secretary has said he is “cautiously optimistic” that the Government can “substantially reduce” Covid restrictions next week. Sajid Javid told MPs it was likely “we have already reached the peak of cases that require hospitalisations” as ministers prepare to review Plan B measures next Wednesday. The Sun talked to Virologist Prof. Johnathan Ball who is cautious about coining what some have described as the pandemic ‘end game’ but says it’s time to rethink how we deal with covid-19 and restrictions, long term. Ministers have been hinting the Plan B review will see and end to working from home restrictions and the need for vaccine passports for large events although masks are likely to stay.
