Hunter Biden indicted on firearms charges
Hunter Biden has been indicted on three federal firearms charges related to his purchase of a gun five years ago, at a time when he was addicted to crack cocaine. The president’s son, 53, is accused of lying about his drug use when he bought a Colt Cobra handgun in October 2018, a felony offence for which he could receive a prison sentence if convicted. He had written in a 2021 autobiography that he was a regular drug user but did not declare that he was when he bought the weapon, which is illegal. The gun charge detailed in court filings in Delaware had been part of a plea deal with prosecutors that involved Biden admitting misdemeanor tax charges. The deal collapsed in July when the judge in the case questioned whether Biden should be protected from future charges and raised questions about the constitutional basis of including the firearm agreement.
