Israeli troops storm Gaza's main hospital
Israeli forces have stormed Gaza’s main hospital as they intensify their offensive against Hamas. The Hamas-run health ministry said Israeli troops and tanks had entered the Al Shifa compound, including the hospital’s emergency and surgery departments. It is unclear how many patients are currently inside Al Shifa. Hamas says 650 patients and 5,000 to 7,000 other civilians are trapped inside the hospital grounds. Amid shortages of fuel, water and supplies, it claims 40 patients have died in recent days. The Israeli military said it was carrying out a “precise and targeted operation against Hamas in a specified area in the Shifa Hospital”.
