Libya: Drone footage shows search for bodies on Derna coast

The bodies of about a thousand victims of the flooding that swept through Derna last week have been found in the sea. A Libyan rescue team reported seeing at least 600 bodies in the Mediterranean 12 miles east of the devastated city, while a Maltese team discovered another 400 corpses washed up on a nearby beach. The flood, powered by a freak storm which crushed two dams above the city, sent a wall of water seven metres high through Derna, killing as many as 11,000 people and sweeping entire neighbourhoods out to sea. The risk of waterborne diseases such as cholera is rising among the 30,000 people left homeless.
