Netherlands hostages: police detain man after siege of Ede ‘party café’

A man thought to be armed and carrying explosives took four people hostage in a “party café” in the Dutch town of Ede early on Saturday morning. Three of the hostages, apparently members of staff, were released at 11.20am local time, seemingly unharmed, but one was still thought to be inside. The siege then ended shortly before 12.30am, after a man wearing a balaclava walked out of the building with his hands up. He was then handcuffed by police. The fourth hostage was also released.
