Nicola Sturgeon confirms rapist Isla Bryson will not serve her sentence in women's prison
Nicola Sturgeon has said that convicted rapist Isla Bryson will not serve her sentence in a women's prison. The First Minister told MSPs during First Minister's Questions that any prisoner thought to be at risk of sexual offending was segregated from the rest of the prison population. She said: "There is no automatic right for a trans woman convicted of a crime to serve their sentence in a female prison - even if they have a gender recognition certificate. It comes after Bryson was this week found guilty of two counts of rape at the High Court in Glasgow. She committed the crimes before she transitioned to female and when she was known by the dead-name Adam Graham.
