Nobel committee calls for release of peace prize winner Ales Bialiatski

The jailed Belarusian human rights activist Ales Bialiatski has won the 2022 Nobel peace prize along with the Russian and Ukrainian human rights organisations Memorial and the Center for Civil Liberties. While the prize will be seen by many as condemnation of Vladimir Putin, who is celebrating his 70th birthday on Friday, Reiss-Andersen denied it was an anti-Putin award.
